Title
Two Miccosukee Men and a White Man Wrestling an Alligator at Musa Isle Seminole Tourist Camp in Miami, ca. 1920s
Description
Some Florida Indians maintained self-sufficiency through the tourism industry in the early 20th century. Income from such activities lessened their dependence on governmental assistance, which, in turn, allowed them a greater amount of autonomy. Other groups remained more isolated from the mainstream population, where they maintained their internal self-governance.
