Title

Seminoles of The Everglades, ca. 1960s

Description

This 1960s-era promotional video was made shortly after the Seminole Tribe of Florida received federal recognition. With the creation of this film, the producers implied that the South Florida Indians needed federal assistance to be able to survive. In reality, the Florida Indians believed that the United States, through the Bureau of Indian Affairs, could offer a measure of security as they worked through the monumental task of reorganizing the governmental structure that had served them for almost a century.
